Copper rods, a key raw material for electric wires and cables, have undergone a development process in my country involving introduction, assimilation, and independent innovation in their production technology. In the 1980s, with the development of non-ferrous metal smelting and casting technology worldwide, my country successively introduced several bright copper rod continuous casting and rolling production lines, promoting the development and technological innovation of copper rod production. From the 1990s onwards, my country's electric wire and cable industry developed rapidly, leading to a surge in demand for copper rods. From the late 20th to the early 21st century, my country introduced or relocated and upgraded several world-class "SCR" and "Contirod" bright copper rod production lines.
Since the construction of my country's first domestically designed and manufactured copper rod continuous casting and rolling production line in the 1980s, more than ten domestically produced copper continuous casting and rolling production lines with an annual output of tens of thousands of tons have been put into the market. The upward drawing process for producing oxygen-free copper rods appeared internationally in the 1970s. After introduction, assimilation, and absorption, my country began to apply it in the 1980s, making it the mainstream process for producing oxygen-free copper rods domestically. Changzhou Tongtai High Conductivity Co., Ltd. has built a production line that uses continuous casting and rolling to produce oxygen-free copper rods and alloy copper rods.
